Late in 2014 a large group of Western Cape schools were given a court order to close, following a lengthy battle between the provincial Education Department and concerned parents and lobby groups. Only one school was allowed to stay open, Beauvallon High in Valhalla Park where out of only 30 Matric candidates nearly half did not meet the requirements to pass. VOC journalist Andriques Ché Petersen spoke to Save Our Schools co-ordinator Vanessa le Roux to hear what the future holds for Beauvallon's Matrics.
