ANC & MK Party square off in Electoral Court

The ANC wants to place a banning order on the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party by
asking the Electoral Court to order that its registration as a political party be declared
unlawful. This was the argument made by the MK Party's lawyer, advocate Dali
Mpofu, in opposing the ANC's case in Bloemfontein. The ANC asked the court to rule
that the decision by the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) to register the MK Party,
after rejecting its initial application, was unlawful. As a result, the ANC wants the MK
Party to cease to exist as a political party. Phemelo speaks to MK Party
Spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndlela and ANC Head of Elections Mdumiseni Ntuli.
