Two Free State men will now use their wives' surnames after their spouses successfully challenged the related law in court. After completing their marriage certificate, they were unsettled by the fact that provision was made legally for the female spouse to change her surname, but not for the male spouse to do so. After Judge Joseph Mhlambi ruled in their favour, is this something that our society is ready to accept in practical terms? What's your take?
