Selena Gomez received backlash on social media when she posted herself in tears, expressing her heartbreak at the deportation policies of America's new government. Many commented and criticized her for being inauthentic, and for not understanding the power she possesses to make a difference should she wish to do so. She deleted the post thereafter. When you see a video of someone you know, crying on social media, what’s your first thought?
