In conversation with Michael Waters - DA Gauteng Spokesperson for Education MPL

The increase from four last year to 12 this year highlights
the dangers of schools becoming breeding grounds for
sexual offenders and predators. The DA has called for the
completion of the vetting process, stating that the Gauteng
Department of Education (GDE) has allowed these
offenders to work with children, despite the Children's Act
mandating vetting before accessing minors.
The DA-led Gauteng provincial government plans to
collaborate with the Department of Justice to ensure quick
vetting of all school employees. The DA will continue to
pressure the GDE until every person is vetted and every
sexual offender is fired and blacklisted not to work with
children again.
