HYPE Magazine was founded in 2004, a year after hip-hop was
officially recognized by the SAMAs. It quickly gained popularity as
South Africa’s only dedicated hip-hop publication, known for
spotlighting emerging artists through its magazine mixtapes. Now
in its 21st year, HYPE continues to thrive by expanding its digital
presence through news, podcasts, and more.
Lesiba, a trained journalist, is passionate about discovering new
talent. He began his career at Slikouronlife in digital marketing,
later contributing to major creative platforms like HYPEBEAST
Africa and Between 10and5. With experience in media and
advertising including work on campaigns for brands like Airbnb
and Paramount he now leads HYPE Magazine as editor,
revitalizing the brand with his vision and expertise.
