It has become common to see people asking drivers for money on South African streets. This happened where either a child is approaching drivers for money, as instructed by adults who appear to be their guardian, or where a child is made to sit with adults as they ask for money. While drivers feel compassion when seeing these occurrences, many also wonder how legal this is, and what can be done to assist children who live in this reality. We've reached out to the Department of Social development to help us understand these legalities and complexities and spoke to Gyan Dwarika. Listen in to some much-needed insight on the matter.
