DA Slams Delays in Bree Street Repairs and Police Station Woes in Tshwane

The DA is turning up the heat on service delivery failures in Gauteng. Two years after a gas explosion tore through Lilian Ngoyi Street (formerly Bree), repairs remain incomplete. With R200 million already allocated, the road is still a construction zone, months past the November 2023 deadline. DA Gauteng leader Solly Msimanga visited the site, calling the delays “appalling.” Meanwhile In Pretoria North, another crisis is brewing. The Akasia Police Station is crippled by broken phones, a vehicle shortage, and crumbling infrastructure. Meant to have 24 police vehicles, it currently operates with just five, some of which have been in repairs for over a year. Msimanga says the lack of resources is dragging down police morale and compromising safety across a 152km² area. He speaks to Phemelo about the DA’s oversight visits and findings.
