SA Government Hits Back at US Human Rights Report: “Distorted and Discredited”

South Africa has slammed a recent US State Department human rights report, calling it “inaccurate, misleading, and out of touch with reality.” The report accused the country of targeting Afrikaners through land expropriation and mistreating racial minorities, claims the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) says are simply untrue. Minister Ronald Lamola expressed “profound disappointment,” while DIRCO spokesperson Chrispin Phiri tells Govan Whittles, standing in for Phemelo that the report relies on “discredited and decontextualised” information.
