OFM News agri editor Sabrina Dean spoke to the Chairperson of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Machene Semenya, about some of the work they have been doing in recent weeks. In this extract from the full interview, the focus turns to briefings by organised agriculture, commodity organisations and Government departments on preparedness for the new planting season. Semenya says they have heard that farmers have limited resources for the new season and have tasked the agriculture department to discuss issues around State guarantees with the national Treasury:
