Poultry task team to seek long and short-term solutions

OFM News’ agri editor Sabrina Dean speaks to the spokesperson for the Department of Trade and Industry, Sidwell Medupe, about a poultry task team that has been established. Medupe says the team comprises government and industry roleplayes, as well as labour representatives. He also outlines some of the measures government has implemented to try and protect the domestic poultry industry. The poultry industry, along with members of the Food and Allied Workers Union, is expected to hold a protest march in Pretoria on Wednesday in solidarity with more than 1000 workers who are being retrenched at one of South Africa's big poultry producers.
