Fatal bear attack in northern Saskatchewan: How rare is it?

A 27-year-old man has died following a bear encounter near a remote airstrip about 78 km northeast of Points North Landing or about 700 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon. This is only the fourth known fatal bear attack in our province’s history. Wildlife officers and the RCMP are working to determine what led to the deadly encounter.
